The hamlet of Babel is conveniently situated off the A40. It is very peaceful and quiet and has a wonderful community spirit, helpful and friendly. The village hall was refurbished with the help of national lottery funds and is the old school house. Many of the locals talk of going to school there, it was all Welsh speaking and then when they went to high school in Llandovery they had to learn English. English is a second language to to older locals, but they are very proud to speak it. I wish my Welsh was as good as their English.
Babel is situated between the Crychan forest and Halfway forest, a lovely location to walk from or go mountain biking, bird watching or exploring Mid Wales and all it has to offer.
