Family Friendly Days Out
National Show caves For Wales (Dan yr Ogof) is just half an hour’s drive from Gwarllwyn. It is Wales’ top award-winning attraction and is the most breath-taking Showcaves complex in Northern Europe. The caves were discovered by two brothers in 1912 when they explored a small gap in the hillside. One of the caves has the remains of 42 human skeletons and there are now a series of exhibits illustrating how our ancestors would have used the caves all those years ago and other animals which would have also fought for shelter. The cathedral cave was not discovered until 1953, here you can walk between two 20 meter high waterfalls which feed a large underground lake. There is also an award winning dinosaur park, a replica iron age farm, a Shire horse centre, Mr Morgan’s Victorian farm, a museum and “rock” shop, a coffee shop and picnic area, Millennium stone circles and Barney Owl’s playground.
Cantref Adventure Park is less than half an hour away in Brecon, this has many indoor and outdoor activities for children including pony rides, a super sledge ride, jungle swamp ride and a petting farm for children and much more. Cantref Farm is an award winning attraction and has more than twenty indoor and outdoor activities.
