Accessibility Statement, General Information & Find Us

Here at Gwarllwyn we endeavour to be as accommodating to our guests as possible.  The accommodation is however on three levels and may not suit everyone.  If you have any questions please telephone or email.

Accessibility

There are two steps into the porch and then the main bedroom area is all on one level.

There are nine steps up and three steps down into the mezzanine area.  There are hand rails on both sides of the nine steps up. Top and bottom stair guards are available if needed.

Please note the mezzanine is open plan and over looks the main bedroom area.  It is not suitable for unsupervised younger children.

There are three steep steps down into the bathrooms and a low door, one step up into the wet room and one step up into the bathroom.

Parking is located immediately next to the main entrance to the house.  The parking area is tarmac and on a slope.

Data Protection (GDPR)

Our guests are asked to provide us with personal data, such as names, address, email and telephone numbers.  This information is used to contact you before and during your stay with us.  It is not shared with anyone else.

Families

We have a travel cot, booster seat, stair gates and a high chair available.  The mezzanine is open plan and not suitable for unsupervised young children.  There is a small pond in the garden area.  We are happy to introduce children to the animals (chickens, sheep, horses, dog and cats) if they are interested.   There is a DVD player in the room, so why not bring along a favourite DVD.

Pets

We have cats and a dog in the main house.  They are not permitted in the guest accommodation.  They are also excluded from the kitchen at times of preparing and handling food.  Gwarllwyn may  not be suitable for anyone suffering from dog,  cat or horse allergies.

Our own dog, Tilly-Mint,  is very friendly and wants everyone to love her.   She was found aged nine months after being dumped and has settled well.  She loves visitors and would love to welcome you.  We understand some people are not enthusiastic about dogs, therefore please let us know before your visit and we will make sure that she is kept away for the duration of your visit.

Room Information

There are two ceiling lights in the main bedroom and there are also bedside lamps.  The T.V. is a 32″ flat screen with Freeview, an intrgrated DVD player and a remote control.  There is a small DVD library.  The bedroom door has a key lock and you will be provided with a front door key.  The radio alarm clock has a docking station for your ipod or iphone.  There is an iron and ironing board in the wardrobe.  A hairdryer is also provided in the bedside cabinet.  A range of books is  available for you to read at your leisure as well as literature on the locality.  The velux roof lights have remote control blinds.

The lighting on the mezzanine is provided using a switch on the stairs.  There is a cordless kettle, a filter coffee maker, a four slice toaster, microwave and a fridge.  There is also a free standing lamp next to the bed.  A drinks tray is supplied and includes, breakfast tea, Earl Grey, herbal and fruit teas, instant coffee, filter coffee, hot chocolate and ovaltine.  We even set up the filter coffee machine so that all you have to do is switch it on and hit the “aroma” button.  Nothing could be easier.  Homemade cake is usually available made with the eggs from our rescued ex battery hens.

Heating is via central heating and there are hot water bottles and electric blankets.  There is also a a small electric heater in the bedroom.

For those booking longer stays bedding is changed after the third night, so you get that lovely fresh bedding smell over and over.  Towels are changed daily, including hand towels as most of our guests like the great outdoors.

The accommodation is non-smoking

Anyone with special dietary requirements please advise us beforehand and we can provide soya or rice milk or gluten free etc.

We do use nuts in the kitchen.

We have a good mobile reception and wi-fi is available.  We have satellite broadband which has a limit on our monthly usage, therefore we ask that you do not use it to download films, music  etc.  Satellite broadband can dip in and out depending on the weather conditions.

A land line telephone is available upon request for reasonable calls.

A fire risk assessment has been carried out and all fire escapes are clearly marked.  Ground floor windows open outwards and also allow a means of escape.  We have wi-fi smoke alarms which are linked to the main house.

GARDEN:   A secluded area of our beautiful garden is set aside for use by guests, with a picnic  table  provided, so that you can sit outside and enjoy the surroundings.  The garden is sloping and there are narrow steps up into this area.  There is a small pond in the garden, so small children will need to be supervised.

FIND US:   The A40 runs from Brecon to Llandovery.  Coming from the Brecon direction – 2 miles before you reach Llandovery you will see a sign to your right ‘Pentre Ty Gwyn & Babel‘.   Take this turn.  (If your sat nav tells you at Halfway to turn off at Pentre Bach ignore it, unless you have a 4×4 and are willing to use it.)  Proceed 100 yards down the hill, over small hump-back  bridge . (Don’t follow B&B sign – that is someone else !) Turn sharp RIGHT at the Post box. Proceed exactly 2 miles along a very  narrow winding lane (Take care – you may meet a tractor).  Gwarllwyn is the second house on your left – metal gate down drive to house – house name beside  the gate.

If coming from the Llandovery direction on the A40 – take the Pentre Ty Gwyn & Babel sign on your left two miles out of Llandovery – then proceed as above.

If using SAT NAV  – our post code – SA20 0RR will bring you to the house.  If travelling from the Brecon direction stay on the A40 until you see the Babel/Pentre Ty Gwyn sign.
